Okay, why is this post in Green With Envy???? Is she crazy?

First off I need to put it out there that I am crazy about animals of all kinds and totally neurotic about how they are treated, raised , cared for, utilized in testing products, etc…I think you get it. I am about to show you pictures of some of my favorite furnishings made of antlers. I have always adored antler furnishings and in the past have had many wonderful artisans who made me chairs and tables and lighting out of steer horns, and fallow deer antlers . I particularly like to mix these pieces with chic contemporary interiors where they are just as comfortable as in western interiors… Perhaps even more so because they stand alone and create that feeling of the unexpected I am always writing about. Trust me on this one!

Today one of my favorite sources for these furnishings is Elen Importing and Design . They are a major importer of antler furnishings and products and are very particular about where the antlers come from and how the furniture is made. PLUS, they are licensed by the US Fish and Wildlife Services.  I had an intense conversation with Luca Sanino, the owner of the company about how he runs his business.  He is extremely knowledgeable  and passionate about what he does and where he purchases his products and he fully satisfied me that there is no hanky-panky going on concerning where he obtains the antlers and other products he sells.

Keep in mind that they have many beautiful pieces of furniture they make , but are also open to private commissions… and are easily accessible from the New York City area.

I’m just crazy for this chair and love seat and dining table… the perfect ” talk about” pieces in a room. And he also has spectacular mirrors and occasional tables too.

Some other other great finds designed by Elen Importing and Design made of antlers that would make perfect gifts for yourself (I hope you always remember to  put yourself on the gift list when you are making it !) or accessories for your home are antler flatware, candelabras and sambar stag antler pens.

These unique pieces are just what the Dezign Doctor ordered to add the “oohs and aahs” you want to hear when people come over. And remember, these are  recycled  natural products , so you wont have to have any guilt about using them in your home, and without a doubt, they will guarantee you a place on the “A list” for design creativity!

Ciao, ciao “til Monday!
