Last day…last lunch…last mad dash shopping…last heads up on “do not miss in St. Barth!”
Okay, I have been here for almost two weeks, and I am beginning to feel like a St. Barth’s native! I have eaten my self silly with delicious “high and low” French cuisine…drank enough French Rose to cover the rest of the year…and have had the best time talking with everyone I met! That’s a big time event down here, and it is easy enough to strike up a conversation with people you meet on the beach or in a restaurant or any where.
Plus, the locals are particularly out going and friendly and their conversations add a lot of colorful details about the comings and goings of the island. There is also definitely something romantic about living on an island, and I think that’s what makes island living so attractive to both young and old.
While eating in one of my favorite lunch spots, DÕ BRAZIL I became friendly with a beautiful young lady, Catherine Audier, who works there. She is full of life and vitality and made our lunch there perfect. She then directed me to a sensationnel clothing store right next door called SUNDAY (+05 90 52 08 08), a must stop for the absolute best stuff in French island wear St. Tropez style. Incidentally while you eat atDÕ BRAZILyou are treated to a fashion show from SUNDAY...and if you can resist going there afterwards you are a better woman than I am!
Catherine also introduced me to my favorite new drink: an expresso martini… it is too delicious, and I will definitely be serving them in Fire Island this summer. We hung out together for an afternoon of great music at another place called NIKKI BEACH. Her boyfriend, DJ MaXx -C(+590 690 629 904) spins the music there. If you go for lunch on a Sunday you might just find yourself dancing on the tables to his great music!
I do believe the time has finally come to pack my bags, say adieu, and get back to a different reality…
