BERLIN BLAST

RENZO PIANO AT HIS BEST!

I recently took off with my favorite traveling companion, my husband, on a short tour of some European cities I had failed to conquer in my past travels. My curiosity about Germany was intense, so we decided to spend three days in Berlina city hot and heavy on the “cool cities to visit” list… getting to understand what makes Germans tick and tock… got it by the way…and submerging ourselves in German historical sites and the outrageous architecture spiced throughout  the old East Berlin …with big thanks to a fantastic guide ,Tom Williamson, sfwanderer@hotmail.com.

Everybody who’s a BIG WHO in architecture has left his mark there: Renzo Piano, Sir Norman Foster , Rem Koolhaus , Frank Ghery, Jean Nouvel, Daniel Libeskind , Gropius, Niemeyer ….just to mention a few. Check out some of my favorite buildings:

THIS WAS AWESOME TO LOOK UP INTO! AND LIKE MANY BUILDINGS IN BERLIN IT INCORPORATED NEW ELEMENTS WITH OLD STRUCTURES.

PARTICULARLY LOVE THE OLD BUILDING INSIDE THE NEW FACADE…HOW CLEVER IS THAT, PRESERVING HISTORY AND ENCAPSULATING THE HERE AND NOW!

BERLIN’S SONY CENTER…GREAT FOR PERFORMANCES AND EVENTS!

Oh, and let me leave you with one more thought…the desserts in Berlin are fabulicious!

Ciao, ciao ’til Thursday!
