EBANISTA: INCREDIBLE CERAMICS FROM FRANCE

EBANISTA is one of my haunts for fabulous Spanish Colonial and Italianate furnishings. What I love about their look is the mixture of modern concepts with the sophistication of old world charm.

I must confess, however, that my  favorite design products to be found in the showroom are a line of outrageously stunning white ceramic pieces imported from France. Truth be told, the first time I walked into EBANISTA I purchased the Large Regency Mural Platter, without even knowing where I was going to put it in my house.  It was love at first site and I was afraid to walk out of the showroom without it!  The heads which circle the platter are in an unglazed finish and look like angels or saints…not quite sure it matters which they are as they are really charming details on the dish. The platter is over sized and the white glaze is irregular and has a hand made touch to it. Altogether it is simply fun and fabulous and gets comments from everyone that comes to visit.

There is definitely something to be said for these white on white ceramics.  Their brilliance and starkness adds drama to wherever you place them in a room. The piece above, called Beak and Egg Vase…you can see where the name comes from…. is marvelous. A pair of them would look terrific on a console or buffet, and then fill them with flowers , real or artificial, and you will have a showstopper.

The “pitcher” above,  is really a Watering Can, but I wouldn’t reduce it to that status…it’s too delightful  and could be an accessory any place: kitchen, den, living room, dining room, you name it.The dragon spout coupled with the antique woman’s head and the holes on the cover are perfect whimsical detailing .  This, I think may  have to be my next purchase!

Okay, don’t you just love this monkey (officially known as Male Monkey with Umbrella) and the detailing on his umbrella? The piece is charming, and beautifully executed and would put a big smile on my face every time I looked at it.

You can also find  vases, plates, lamps, pitchers, wall brackets, candlesticks and numerous other pieces all made out of the same exquisite white glaze. They are all  great additions to any interior, and in my eyes, their uniqueness and quality of execution only adds to their value.
