Every day I have the opportunity to meet new people in my industry and I find that extremely stimulating. One never knows where new relationships can lead to and I have always felt that I come out on the plus side when I follow my instinct about introductions to new suppliers and sources.
Recently I had the pleasure to be introduced to a new contracting firm, Conde Construction, and they quite graciously extended an invitation to Daniel and I to go to a cool event at a very cool new showroom down in very cool Soho called VOCE DI.
A great live jazz band was playing when we entered the new space which had been designed with a huge windowed garage door as its entrance, beamed wooden ceilings with sky lights, an upstairs loft space and the downtown “but of course” cement floors. Plus the super-duper cool touch of leaving the old signage out front on the building.
The showroom hasn’t really opened officially, but I predict it will be very successful as it has a very appealing look, and some smart and knowledgeable owners. It actually feels much more like a downtown art gallery. The furnishings are sparingly placed so you can easily view each and every one and there is wonderful contemporary art hanging on the walls. Everything for sale was definitely chic, current and stunning. One could certainly sense that the owners have a real passion for design and the elements that make up great interiors.
Minotticucine, a high end Italian kitchen cabinet manufacturer is featured at VOCE DI.Their design is definitely minamilism at its best in Italian kitchen cabinetry. Everything was superbly detailed and had that sensuousness I associate with the minimalist look. I was smitten by the way they hid the main faucets and the drains. No big in your face faucet here. All very clever and very new to me. Everything produced by this Italian company is extremely sleek, ultra-modern and classically simple.
VOCI DI…which means in Italian “voice of”… represents several other manufacturers of high end products: Besana, Marie’s Corner, Sounds Good NY, Asia Minor, Mis en Scene. On display for the event were several really divine chairs and a “I fell in love with” cocktail table, that unfortunately had a SOLD sign on it! I am not sure who the manufacturers are so you probably will have to go down there yourself when the showroom officially opens in October. I also got the inside information that they will be selling the most beautiful wood flooring from Belgium that is bound to make your heart sing when you see it. Sooooooo deZignlicious
Aside from having the opportunity to have a yummo glass or two of Prosecco…my favorite summer drink…and ooh and aah at the beautiful furnishings and kitchens, I also was introduced to some fabulous people…just what the doctor ordered for this lady. Here’s a big thank you to my new friends at Conde Construction for upping the ante on my deZign life and getting me a hot, sneak preview of VOCI DI.
CIAO, CIAO ‘TIL NEXT TIME!
