THE TOP SIX MOST DEZIGNLICIOUS POSTS OF 2011

It seems fitting to sit back and reflect on a year of  being on the hunt for all things wild and wonderful . I’ve had a fabulous time writing and sharing my adventures in the world of Dezign, and then some, with everyone. So as a fitting close to this wonderful year of 2011 , here are my top six favorite posts of 2011…one for each category on DEZIGNLICIOUS.

THE WOW FACTOR: SICIS THE ART MOSAIC FACTORY FURNITURE LINE

You cannot deny that this furniture is way out there in the dezign universe!  With over sized flowers and snakes and birds done up in velvets and sparkling mosaics these pieces are flying high with artistic elements.  Pretty incomparable!

WHY DID I CALL MY BLOG DEZIGNLICIOUS? GATTI DISHES FROM COSULICH

I love the story behind this stunning coffee and tea set from GATTI in Italy. My friends at Cosulich Antiques, Franco and Fabienne, introduced me to the dishes and filled me in on the Mussolini/ marriage of his illegitimate daughter story which is marvelous history trivia. This is a two-fer, and well worth a read.

MISSONI /TARGET: THE ITALIAN FASHION HOUSE BRINGS IT DESIGNS TO THE MASSES.

Target’s decision to produce a line of home furnishings with Missoni takes the prize for super duper smart marketing this past year. The product looked terrific and as a designer I was hard pressed not to rush down and check it out ASAP. I promise you, only the mass mania kept we away!

ZIG ZAG  ZAG ZIG ZIG ZAG : SOLOMON & WU MOULDINGS

High points for originality for a bold new product for the interior design community. It’s been so long since someone even thought to reinvent the look of mouldings in a room that this team should be given the Big Prize for creativity and making us think outside of that box we get stuck in so often. Just love their mouldings and  using them whenever I can!

SPIN LITTLE SILK WORM…SPIN AND SPIN AND SPIN

This post takes the prize for most unusual piece of sustainable furniture. The interaction between the bamboo frame and the silkworms is unbelievable. And how in the world did Yii Design come up with the concept?

A WALK IN THE PARK: JAUME PLENSA’S SCULPTURE “ECHO”

Discovering Jaume Plensa’s phantasmal sculpture in Madison Park in NYC was a moment that took my breath away. Hooray for the outstandingly talented Mr. Plensa and hooray for the powers that be at Madison Square Park for supporting such wonderful  experiences for one and all to enjoy.

There were so many wonderful things I discovered and posted about that it was hard to choose only six “BESTS“.  I’d love to hear from you and know if you agree with my selections, and if not,  which posts you thought deserved the big  “D” for DEZIGNLICIOUS in 2011.
