I look at life as a glorious design feast. It’s a vast buffet of delicious choices. I have strict rules about over-consuming and confine myself to the rare and wonderful. That way I’m always satiated. My hope is that dezignlicious.com will add a little spice to your design diet and allow you to sample to your heart’s delight – all without the guilt.
Are you ready to dine at my table?
here’s a tasty tidbit:
Funky and fabulous with an outrageous provenance, I love this whimsical tea/coffee service by the Italian workshop Gatti, founded in 1928. Gatti’s place in history was etched by none other than Mussolini, who commissioned this futuristic design dinnerware with a contemporary “leopard” pattern ( very fitting ) as a wedding gift for his illegitimate daughter, Edda ( a notorious wild woman in her youth), upon her marriage in 1930 to Galeazzo Ciano, Italian royalty …where an intimate 4000 guests attended! It wasn’t a match made in heaven (the count was later executed by his father-in-law for dissenting), but the countess got to keep her title, Countess of Cortellazzo, and her coffee set! Not only is the design divine, the story would make for great conversation around your coffee table.
The pieces are of the highest quality and materials and completely made by hand, including the applied pure gold and the white enameled interior. This beautiful and unique set…some of the most irresistibly beautiful dinnerware I have seen in a long time … as well as other pieces in the series ,can be found at Cosulich Antiques, Gatti’s exclusive rep in America.
